Elaboration of Murmansk port boundaries draft regulation completed
As per the preliminary schedule, draft regulation of the RF Government on boundaries definition of the territory and water area of Seaport of Murmansk, shall be submitted for the Russian Government consideration, reported PortNews IAA journalist with reference to Alexandr Davydenko, head of Federal Agency of maritime and inland water transport of Ministry of transport of RF, that reported at I Murmansk International Economic Forum.
Head of Rosmorrechflot explained the draft regulation of the port boundaries was agreed with all the related parties already Summer, 2009, except for the Ministry of Defense. The work of mediation committee is currently to be completed. The date of submission of the documents on the Murmansk port boundaries to the Government was defined September, 2009 in Kaliningrad at a visiting session of Maritime board of the RF Government.
Davydenko highlighted the Murmansk port boundaries are elaborated ‘in close connection to the draft of Murmansk transportation junction development’.
It is necessary to remind that under the Federal Target Program ‘RF Transportation system development” for 2010-2015 it is planned to construct a new port and rail infrastructure in Murmansk and Western part of Kola Bay. In particular, maritime container terminal construction (of up to 1 million TEU turnover ), coal transhipment complex in the Western coast of the Kola Peninsular, the Lavna river region (of 18 million tons annual capacity), coal terminal development on the Eastern coast of Kola Bay (of up to 10 million tons annual throughput ), oil loading terminal on the Western coast of Kola Bay (of 35 million tons annual capacity), a new railway branch (27 km long) along the Western coast of the bay, and foundation of specialized logistics center are envisaged in the draft of Murmansk transportation junction development. Cargo turnover of the port of Murmansk increased by 34.4% (28 million 237.3 thousand tons) within the nine months of 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
