Sovcomflot to start oil cargo shipments via Northern Sea Route 2010
Sovcomflot OJSC plans to start oil and oil products shipment in 70 thousand tons dwt vessels via Northern Sea Route, 2010, PortNews IAA journalist learnt from Evgenii Ambrosov, Deputy General Director of Sovcomflot OJSC, in the course I Murmansk International Economic Forum.
As per Ambrosov, December 10, 2009 Sovcomflot will accept for operation Mikhail Ulianov, an ice-class tanker of 70 thousand tons dwt built at Amiralty Shipyards OJSC (St.-Petersburg). The company will receive Kirill Lavrov, one more equal-class tanker, in April-May, 2010
’It was planned to use these tankers in Prirazlomnoe deposit (the Pechora Sea), but its putting into operation is a bit delayed. But the tankers will operate in ice-conditions until the deposit commissioning,’ added Ambrosov.
Sovcomflot plans to build 19 fleet units with overall capacity of 1.7 million tons by 2010. The company’s fleet amounts to 143 vessels of overall 10.1 million tons dwt.
Sovcomflot group is the third in the world in Aframax tankers segment, second – in the segment of tankers-food-stuff-carriers. The company has the world’s largest fleet designed to work in ice conditions. It provides both the services on hydrocarbons and crude oil shipment via floating oil storage units, on elaboration of effective logistics schemes of energy-carriers transportation.
