Selection of contractors for a new Baku port construction to be completed late current year
The Cabinet of Ministers chaired by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev summarized social and economic development of the country over 3 quarters.
Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov said at the meeting that Dutch company Royal Haskoning completes development of a master plan and working project of building of new Baku international sea trade port in Alat settlement.
“Plan and project of the first stage will be prepared till the end of year and plan and project of the second stage of construction of the port - till the end of March, 2010. Tender procedures to choose a contractor of construction works will be finished at choice till the end of 2009,” Z. Mammadov said.
The consultant (Royal Haskoning) should prepar technical requirements and full technical documentation (including technical task).
Earlier, GS Engineering & Construction finished and submitted a feasibility study of the project and results of primary design work.
Construction of new international sea port in Alat settlement will be implemented by three stages will be finished by 2016.
Stage I (2008-10) envisages construction of two ferry and three cargo bridges for acceptance of containers, Ro-Ro and usual dry-cargo (universal) vessels; Stage II (2011-13): construction of three more cargo bridges; Stage III (2014-15): construction of two more cargo bridges. The project is evaluated at over $400 million.
