Fusion of St.-Petersburg and Baltic customs to take place by mid 2010, Mikhail Prokhofiev
It is planned to take actions on fusion of St.-Petersburg and Baltic customs by middle of 2010, informed Mikhail Prokhofiev, the Head of North-West customs Administration (SZTU).
‘It was time when Baltic customs separated from St.-Petersburg one. They will become a single unit soon,’ mentioned Rosbalt with reference to Prokhofiev.
It is assumed to put into operation 15 boarder and local customs posts within the united St/-Petersburg customs.
Prokhofiev highlighted that a 3-time capacity load reduction will decrease in port customs. Only bulk, dangerous cargo and cargo shipload lots will be handled in the port, the rest cargoes will be dispatched in trucks and by rail to the so called “dry” ports located near the ring road and pass customs clearance there.
Besides, capacity load reductions in the port customs will allow significantly eliminate customs staff violations. As per the Head of SZTU, a customs officer executes 40-70 customs declaration a shift to the date.
‘It is customs control profanation,’ pointed out Prokhofiev.
