Freight-and-forwarding terminal to be built at Karelian crossing point Vyartsilya
It is planned to construct a freight-forwarding terminal (TLT) near the Karelian crossing point Vyartsilya at the Russian-Finnish boarder. The terminal will handle timber, delivered by motor vehicles and by rail, informed Rosbalt. The terminal will be constructed on the basis of already operating customs station located in Vyartsilya village, 300 m away from a motor car crossing point and 200 m – from railway station.
In addition to the aforementioned, the officers of Suoperya motor car crossing point (MAPP) at a Russian-Finnish boarder will carry out transport control on their own starting November 1. Suoperya MAPP is fitted out with necessary equipment and technical devices for measuring of vehicle dimensions, weighing equipment, permit documents identification units to the date.
Authority transfer directly onto the crossing point is aimed to speed up customs procedures at the boarder, was mentioned in the message.
Foreign turnover of the Republic of Karelia decreased by 40.5% ($824.5 million) within 9 months, 2009 as compared to the figures of the previous year. Export volumes decreased by 35.5% (to $692.4 million), import – 57.7% (to $132.1 million).
