EPSA plans to launch Chile's San Antonio port tender next year
The bidding rules for the concession of the Costanera-Espigón terminal at Chile's San Antonio port should be ready for purchase in first quarter 2010, according to the port's state operator EPSA, Business News Americas reported.
At least six or seven port operators are expected to participate in the concession process, local paper El Mercurio reported.
"All global port operators are interested in the San Antonio tender. We believe we could have offers from at least six or seven firms," EPSA chairman Patricio Arrau said.
On October 15, Chile's anti-trust tribunal TDLC released the conditions for the bidding rules to concession the terminal and EPSA will now draw up the bidding rules.
The TDLC document limits the participation of the Claro and Von Appen groups in the process, which hold concessions at the San Antonio and Valparaíso ports respectively.
The concession contemplates handing over sites 4 and 7 of Costanera-Espigón to a single operator for a period of 30 years. The project will require an investment of over US$300 million in infrastructure and equipment.
