Hyundai, Zim hike rates
Hyundai Merchant Marine will increase freight rates for the trade moving on its services from China to India and Pakistan.
From China, including Hong Kong, to India, rates will increase $100 per 20-foot container and $200 per 40-foot container, effective Nov. 1.
The proposed increase for cargo shipped from China to Pakistan will be $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU, as of Oct. 26.
The South Korean carrier said the rate increase is necessary to provide reliable services to customers.
In related news, Zim Integrated Shipping Services will seek a rate hike on the westbound trades from Asia/Indian Subcontinent to Europe and the Mediterranean.
Effective Nov. 1, the planned increase will be $150 per TEU.
