Cargo turnover of Long-Beach port (the USA) decreased by 18.3% (119 million 731 thousand tons) in January-September, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period 2008. As per the port administration data, in September, 2009 cargo transhipment volumes reduced by 16.5% (down to 13.45 million tons) against 2008 September figures.
Box turnover of the port fell by 24.6% (to 4.9 million TEUs) within nine-month period 2009.
Long-Beach is the biggest port of the USA Pacific coast. Ports of Los-Angeles and Long-Beach constitute a sea region in the USA one of the world’s largest areas in terms of its cargo turnover. Container throughput of the port amounted to 6.48 million TEUs in 2008.
