Neva-Metal CJSC (St.-Petersburg) to open a new empty containers storage service
Neva-Metal CJSC, a part of Severstal Russian Steel division, is planning to open a new service on empty containers storage. As PortNews IAA learnt from Severstal free areas of the main territory of Vtorchermet CJSC (a part of severstal-Vtormet) will be used to establish a container depot. First 500 containers will be delivered to the depot in the nearest future.
‘Our current plans on container depot establishment are client-oriented and implemented within further development of the range of services provided,’ stated Mikhail Panov, General director of Neva-Metal CJSC. ‘The container depot will enable us to provide clients with additional services related to container freight and shall contribute to cargo turnover increase’.
‘By the way, notwithstanding the overall reduction of cargo flow, Neva-Metal increases its volumes of container transhipment. With stable Cherepovets rolled metal transhipment volumes, within 9 months 2009 Neva-Metal transhipped container volumes equal to those in 2008,’ added Panov.
This year container capacities are demanded not only by the outside companies but also by Severstal enterprises.
Neva-Metal CJSC is a part of Severstal Russian Steel division, Its berths located in the third area of the Big port of t.-Petersburg are used for transhipment of ferrous-metals produced by CherMK Severstal, secondary metals of Severstal-Vtormet LLC and for operations with containerized cargoes. Overall transhipment volume of exceeded 1 mn tons within 6 months 2009.
