Qingdao and Ningbo named Sino-Russian customs data ports
A data exchange pilot scheme between China and Russian customs has been completed by Qingdao and Ningbo customs, establishing each as customs data ports between the two countries, reports Xinhua.
Henceforth, Chinese customs will send information of export cargo destined to St Petersburg and Vladivostok to Russian customs, including cargo's departure date, shippers, carriers, transport means' names, voyage numbers, container quantity and custom clearance time.
Sino-Russian customs can do risk assessment in advance through data exchange, so customs will better choose points of focus, and enable speedy clearance on non-suspect cargo.
"Data exchange pilot ports of Sino-Russian customs will start operation as soon as Russia gets ready on this regard and customs between two countries will reach a consensus on supervision work recognised by each party through data exchange." says China Custom's supervision director Hao Chongfu.
