Stevedoring companies of Kaliningrad port to decide on capacities transfer to a new port
RF Ministry of Transport suggested that stevedoring companies should consider the possibility of capacities transfer into a new deep-water port, construction of which is supposed to take place in Kaliningrad region, Balga Island. As PortNews IAA learnt from Sergei Aristov, Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia, in the course of II Annual International conference ‘Trilogia’, a new port shall have a number of advantages against the operating Kaliningrad port. ‘We have an opportunity of deep-water port construction, it is impossible to implement this project within the operating port. Besides the existing port capacities can not be developed. The stevedoring companies should understand, if they don’t take the last train they will be late,’ explained Aristov.
A new port will be designed to receive ocean container vessels as well, confirmed Sergei Aristov.
