Illichivsk seaport continues handling cargoes though rough weather

Illichivsk Sea Port of Ukraine continues discharging containers with vegetable oil and loading of ore train despite the rough seas. According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine, as of December 17, 2009 the port services are working to prevent or minimize possible damages.
The port infrastructure, ships and other facilities are kept in working condition.
The port will restore its full capacity, the port authorities say, as soon as the weather gets better.
As a reminder, the Illichivsk Commercial Port suspended some operations, mooring and processing of vessels, due to rough weather.
The state-run “Illichivsk Sea Commercial Port " is one of the four major Ukrainian ports. The company has manufacturing facilities, which allow handling annually over 30 million tons of cargo. The port’s mooring line is 6 km long with 29 berths. The Illichivsk port also has three railway access ways and three points for road transport. In 2008 the port increased cargo turnover by 18%, to 18.9 million tons compared to 2007.
