The ASAS service will run a second string from July to December to cater for peak season demand and to offer fast transits between key port pairs on the Asia-South America east coast trade, the press release said.
Safmarine liner executive Jan Scheck said: "Not only will this new arrangement allow us to offer a new, direct product from/to [Shenzhen] Da Chan Bay and Ningbo in the Far East and Itajai in east coast South America, but we also expect improvements in schedule reliability and transit times."
Port rotation for the ASAS string 1 will be Nagoya, Yokohama, Busan, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Sepetiba, Santos, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Navegantes, Paranagua, Santos, Singapore, Hong Kong and then back to Nagoya. Beginning with next week, the Monte Rosa will sail westbound while the Monte Olivia will go eastbound a month later.
Port rotation for string 2 will be Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Da Chan Bay, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, Durban- Santos, Itajai, Port Elizabeth, Durban and then back to Shanghai. Loop 2 will operate 10 ships with a capacity of 2,100 TEU each. The string will cover Durban and Port Elizabeth during the peak season.
Beginning with next week, the Bella sailing will sail westbound while the Bella will return eastbound a month later. The second string will be at the end of peak season.
