South Korea's Incheon Port container throughput up 28.5pc in June

South Korea's Incheon port handled 168,443 TEU in June with volumes driven by the economic recovery, marking its highest monthly throughput for two months in a row.
The June total is also 28.52 per cent higher than the amount handled during the same month last year.
Within this total, import cargo accounted for 829,998 TEU imported and exports came to 78,875 TEU, an increase of 22.4 per cent and 24.8 per cent, respectively.
At this rate, the total container throughput for 2010 is expected to be in the range of up to two million TEU.
Jong-tae Kim, the president of the Incheon Port Authority said in a Business Wire release: "We expect this increase to continue until the end of this year due to the extension of the company's investment along with the recovery of business and the increasing need of raw materials," he said. "I will make an effort to maintain the present increasing tendency in various fields of activity."
