The money is part of Canada's $521 million investment in port and ferry operator Marine Atlantic Inc. (MAI) to renew its fleet and shore facilities.
The upgrades include a new terminal building in North Sydney and upgrades at both the Port aux Basques and Argentia terminal buildings.
This investment will also allow MAI to proceed with its plans to renew the ferry service that serves the three ports.
This recent round of funds adds to the 2007 funds allocated to MAI and brings the total government investment to almost a billion dollars.
