A.P. Møller-Mærsk has reactivated all six container ships that have been laid up at Scottish Loch Striven for more than a year. The rates for container transports have increased and there is now a huge need for containerships. Five of the earlier laid up vessels is of the B-class, this type is capable of a service speed of 30 knots. The units have now been located to various services within the Maersk Line network between Far East and Europe. The B-class vessels are; Maersk Baltimore, Maersk Boston, Maersk Bentonville, Maersk Brooklyn and Maersk Beaumont. The latter is one of the three units that earlier this year was sold to Nordea Sweden and registered in the Swedish ship registry. The sixth containership that was laid up at Loch Striven was the Sea-Land Performance. It has been re-flagged to the Marshall Islands. The vessel will be recycled at the Jiangyin recycling plant in China.
