Six-month throughput of Murmansk port gains 6%, to 142ths tons

Half-year freight traffic volume via Murmansk Sea Fishing Port (MSFP JSC) increased by 5.9% as compared with 2009, to 142.000 tons, the MSFP press release said.

In June, the company’s handled volume rose by 32%, to 20.600 tons of cargo.

"During this summer slack the port is carrying out complex repair and maintenance works. This is the first time ever we have some extra free capacity in our port’s fridge - over 8,000 tons. Actually, in the summer it is loaded by 100%", says Anton Artemyev, General Director Assistant of MSFP.

Murmansk Sea Fishing Port is a modern, highly mechanized enterprise of the North region, specialized in handling fishing vessels, mother ships and transport refrigerators. Russian Government holds a 100-percent stake in the company through the Federal Agency for Federal Property Management and the Govt.’s agency Russian Federal Property Fund. MSFP’s cargo turnover in 2009 grew by 36% y-o-y, to 255 thousand tons of fish.
