Aktau Port’s half-year throughput up 2%, 6,75m tons

Cargo turnover at the state-run Aktau International Commercial Sea Port (Port Aktau, Kazakhstan) amounted in Jan-June to 6,751,390 tons, the Port Authority statement said.

Six-month crude, petroleum products volume totaled 5,101,730 tons. Dry cargo shipments amounted to 1,649.660 tons, including 958.110 tons of metal, 116.990 tons of other cargoes, 330,310 tons of grain. Ferry traffic volume was at 244,250 tons. There were 1089 ships calls in Jan-June, the port statistics said.

In June the port transshipped 1,370.400 tons of dry and liquid cargoes.

Port of Aktau is located on the east coast of the Caspian Sea and is the only seaport of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Port transships a broad range of dry cargoes of international traffic passing via its terminals, crude oil and petroleum products. Aktau Port’s throughput in 2009 rose by 26.7%, to 13,951,000 tons.
