BDP International, a Philadelphia-based global logistics and transport group, completed the phased acquisition of Spanish logistics firm Euromodal.
Privately-held BDP did not say how much it paid to take total control of Madrid-based Euromodal.
The Spanish company will now operate as Euromodal BDP International Spain under the direction of Jose Angel Martinez, BDP said.
"With equity positions in regional operations in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, the UK and the Czech Republic, we recognized that we needed to solidify our presence in Spain to better support our customers' expanding trade lane activity in the western Mediterranean," BDP Chief Operating Officer John M Bolte said.
BDP International is one of the largest privately held freight logistics/transportation management firms in the U.S., operating freight centers in more than 20 cities across North America. It has a network of subsidiaries, joint ventures and strategic partnerships in 122 countries and has more than 4,000 customers.
Established in 1991, Euromodal provides logistics services, including customs brokerage, multimodal transport and warehousing, and in addition to its Madrid headquarters, has offices in Barcelona and Valencia.
