Half-year cargo volume by Russian Caspian seaports up 8.4% to 5,78m tons

Exports and imports passing via the Russian ports on the Caspian Sea in the 1st half of 2010 rose by 8.4% from the same period in 2009, to 5.78 million tons, PortNews IAA reports citing the Astrakhan Port Authority.

Astrakhan Port’s six-month throughput increased by 30.3%, to 2.73 million tons, the port of Olya also posted a 32.2-percent rise, to 464,000 tons, while the port of Makhachkala reported 2,58 million tons of cargo, a y-o-y 24.6-percent drop.
