The Times of India newspaper reported that the customs authorities in Kolkata, capital of India's West Bengal state, cleared the ship Aegean Glory Kingstown to sail out of Kolkata port where it was brought for inspection.
Indian authorities on June 24 detained the Liberian-registered ship, which was destined for Karachi.
From questioning of the ship's captain, it was leaned that the ship was returning weapons used during a U.N. peacekeeping mission.
