Universal Shipbuilding may win orders for 5 vessels

Bloomberg reported that JFE Holdings Inc's shipbuilding unit is aiming to win orders for as many as five vessels, mostly to be used to carry iron ore, by October amid rising seaborne trade of the steelmaking material.
Mr Shinjiro Mishima CEO of JFE Holdings Inc's unit Universal Shipbuilding said that "We're in discussions with longstanding major customers. We're chasing contracts in the category of large dry bulk ships and oil tankers."
The Australian Bureau of Agricultural & Resource Economics said on March 2nd 2010 that iron ore carriers including Nippon Yusen KK and Mitsui OSK Lines Limited are expanding their dry bulk fleets to tap demand for the steelmaking material. Exports of the ore from Australia are forecast to rise at an average annual rate of 7% to 2015.
Mr Mishima said that "Our target is to get orders for around 5 vessels in the half year period. It's likely to lead to orders for some ships in the first half."
Mr Mishima said that the company won contracts to build three cape-size bulkers last Japanese fiscal year after the financial crisis dried up global orders for new ships.
