H1 throughput of Tallinn Port up 16.5%, to 17.9m tons

Trade flows via the Port of Tallinn (Estonia) in the first half of this year rose by 16.5%  to 17,898,000 tons, more than in the same period last year, the Port Authority statistics said.
 
Container volume in the reporting period increased by 11.8%, up to 75,226 TEUs

Overall, in these six months the port handled 12.393 million tons of liquid cargo, up 5.3-percent over the same period last year, 924,000 tons of coal (up 2.1 times as much). The volume of exports amounted to 1.548 million tons, imports - 1.849 million tons.

In June freight traffic volume gained 18.9% (vs 2009’s June) to 2,872,000 tons.

Tallinn port, rated the 3rd next to St. Petersburg and Primorsk largest ports of the Baltic Sea, consists of five so-called port areas: Muuga, Old City Harbour, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2009 trade flows via Tallinn Port amounted to 31,597,000 tons.
