Norilsk Nickel to boost monthly metal exports to 2,100 tons

Norilsk Nickel OJSC mapped out a trough logistics scheme to increase monthly exports volume from Monchegorsk to 2,100 tons of steel products, the company’s press release said.
Currently the company is preparing a trial shipment from the Norilsk industrial region as well.

Late June, NN shipped 797 tons of steel products (on the through transport scheme) from Monchegorsk to regional supply bases in Shanghai (PRC) and Baltimore (USA).

The logistics scheme includes loading of metal into large-capacity (30,48 tons) containers for international shipping lines at the company’s factories to be delivered to customers avoiding additional repackaging.

Previously, the company had used for transportation of metal exports the 24-ton standard containers with repackaging of cargo at Russian and foreign ports.

The new scheme has enabled the company to improve the economic efficiency of transportation of finished steel products, the cargo safety, to integrate its transport infrastructure in the international containerized cargo market, to reduce shipment time to the supply bases, boost inventory turnover of the company, increase the depth of planning export traffic.

Norilsk Nickel Logistics BV, Rotterdam logistics office is carrying out interaction with the services of international shipping lines: COSCO, China Shipping, MSC and other lines.

Norilsk Nickel’s own ships transport containers from Murmansk to Rotterdam.

The company has been implementing its terminal project at Murmansk port.
