The AHTS vessel Loke Viking (19,040 BHP - built 2010) has been awarded a contract by Statoil for operations in the Barents Sea. The vessel will support the drilling campaign for a number of wells, starting November 2010. The charter period is for three wells firm (about 60-75 days for each well) with Statoils options for more wells. The first well will be on the Skrugard block, located between Bjornoya and the Snow White field. The drilling rig used will be the Polar Pioneer. Apart from our extensive experience of working in harsh weather and Arctic climate the Deicing, standby and oil recovery features of the Loke Viking have been important features when Statoil has been selecting vessel that will be taking part in the Barents Sea campaign. The contract with Statoil is likely to be in direct continuation from her current contract off WC Greenland. This will be the second Charter contract for the vessel after her delivery from the Zamakona Shipyard in May this year. The Support base used for logistic support under this contract will be will be Hammerfest in Northern Norway.
