Container throughput in six straight months amounted to 880,737 TEUs.
In January – June, petroleum products volume shrank by 6%, to 6,415.400 tons, ferrous metals - rose 25% to 2,387.800 tons, transshipment of nonferrous metals rose by 4%, to 848.3400 tons, scrap metal increased by 35% to 416.800 tons, packaged pieces gained 1%, to 294.020 tons, while refrigerated cargo fell 11%, to 1,290.850 tons, other general cargoes grew by 37% to 905.955 tons. Lumber volume decreased by 2%, to 80,900 tons, grain declined by 39%, to 49.500 tons. The volume of mineral fertilizer surged 58%, up to 2,840.500 tons, coal and coke - dropped by 14%, to 1,148,500 tons, handling of ore dropped by 37%, to 240,300 tons.
There were 7.190 ship calls at the port in H1, 2010 (3603 inbound + 3587 outbound).
The Port of St. Petersburg is located on the islands of the delta of the Neva river, in the Neva Bay, the eastern tip of the Gulf of Finland. The Port Authority says there are at least 30 stevedores currently operating in the port. According to 2009 report the port handled 50.4 million tons of commodities and 21.619 ships called at the port (10.786 inbound and 10.833 outbound).
