Singapore: Cosco Shipyard Group has bagged a $139m contract from A2SEA to build a wind turbine installation vessel. The jack-up vessel for the construction of offshore windfarms will be designed to be able to carry 8 to 10 wind turbines at a time to operate at water depths of up to 45m. "An increasing number of offshore wind projects in the near future will lead to even higher demands for installation vessels than already seen today," said Jens Fredrick, ceo of A2SEA. The vessel named Sea Installer is due to be delivered in the second half of 2012.
