Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev expects German companies to take an active part in upgrading Russian enterprises that have recently been offered for privatization, RBC reports quoting Mr. Medvedev’s statement during his meeting with representatives of Russian and German businesses in Yekaterinburg.
President Medvedev considers the reductions applied to the list of strategic companies "a fairly serious decision." Companies that have ceased to be regarded as strategic will be subject to other laws. It will be easier to invest in them and easier to render them private, the president explained, adding that this opened up new opportunities as well.
