The six-month volume includes 7,014,300 tons of dry cargo, a 15.7-percent decline and 5,973,500 tons of liquid cargo, up 2% over the same period of 2009.
Containerized cargo volume surged 68.4% to 1,877.400 tons in the first half of this year (156,345 TEUs vs 109,603 TEUs).
State-run Odessa Commercial Sea Port is one of the largest ports of the Black Sea-Azov basin. The port’s capability allows handling of more than 14 million tons of dry cargo and 14 mln tons of oil products a year. The port’s cargo turnover in 2009 shrank by 19% year-over-year, to 28.007 million tons.
