Taganrog Port’s throughput up 22% in H1, to 553,000 tons

Cargo volume handled by Taganrog Commercial Sea Port OJSC in the first half of this year rose by 22% from H1, 2009, to 553,000 tons, the stevedore company press release said.

There were 167 ships and over 8,000 rail cars handled in the reporting period.  

The company reports a 61-percent spike in inbound cargo volume, to 22,400 tons, and a 25-percent gain in outbound cargoes, to 373,000 tons. The volume of coastal traffic volume rose by 10%, to about 158,000 tons.

In six straight months Taganrog Port transshipped 13,000 tons of round timber, a threefold gain, while the volume of trans-tubular products doubled to 4,700 tons.

Bulk cargoes handled by the stevedore increased to 335,000 tons (+31%), including 11,000 tons of ore (versus 1,000 tons in 2009), coal volume was up to 311,000 tons (+29%).

Liquid bulk cargo grew by 12% over H1, 2009, to 161,000 tons. Oil products increased to 156,000 tons, 11% over the same period a year earlier.

Container traffic jumped 72%, to more than 6,000 TEUs.

Taganrog Commercial Sea Port, a member of the international transport group Universal Cargo Logistics Holding, is the major stevedoring company operating at Piers NN1-5, 7,8 of Taganrog Port.
