Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan to set TRACECA tariffs and discounts in H2, 2010

Railway authorities of Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan agreed on through tariffs and introduced discounts for transportation of large universal containers via international transport corridor TRACECA in the second half of 2010, the Transport Business reports.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the task group working out uniform competitive tariffs for international transport corridor Europe - Caucasus - Asia (TRACECA), which was attended by representatives of rail, maritime and ports authorities, shipping companies.

In particular, Ukrzaliznytsya introduces a 20-percent discount on the transportation of large universal containers from the ports of EU countries to the ports of Illyichevsk, Kerch, Odessa and in the opposite direction. Discount is valid only for shipping containers in the container block trains after the mutual agreement of technical parameters of trains (length, weight, schedule and route) by responsible railroads authorities.
