An official ceremony of the Oral tanker calling was held at the port of Aktau (Kazakhstan) on 21 July. The ship was built at Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard for the National Maritime Shipping Company Kazmortransflot. According to contract, signed between Kazmortransflot and Krasnoye Sormovo in April 2009, the Russian shipbuilder was to build three oil tankers, MNP Group press services said.
The first tanker Atyrau was delivered to the customer in September 2009, the second Aktobe ship was turned over to Kazmortransflot in May 2010. The third one, the Oral, after sea trials, has been bound for home port Aktrau.
"All three tankers were to be built in the short contract terms. But even these terms have been reduced: each vessel was delivered a half month ahead of contract schedule. This was possible thanks to recent upgrade of the shipyard’s production facilities and proper organization of production process", said General Director of MNE Vadim Malov.
LOA - 150 m, beam - 17,30 m, draft - 7,14 m, DWT - 13470 tons. The tanker is capable of carrying up to three petroleum products grades, has a double casing, preventing oil spills in an accident case, 12 cargo tanks totaling 14,770 cubic meters, two slop tanks and ballast tanks in the double sides and double bottom. Designer of the series tankers is Volga-Caspian Design Bureau.
