The Varnek freight vessel (owned by Nord Way LLC) that was reported earlier missing in the White Sea has been found off the coast of the peninsula Kanin Nos, Russia’s Emergency Ministry’s regional Arkhangelsk department said. The rescue team reported they had found the capsized ship and its wreckage.
No one of the five crew members have been found as yet. A wet suit, allegedly of one of the crew members, was found at the scene.
The regional Emergency Ministry officials said they would continue rescue operation, searching the sea bed.
The Varnek ship laden with 130 tons of cargo left Archangel Port on July 22nd, heading for Schoina Port, but disappeared soon afterwards. The shipowner asked for helicopter, saying the contact with the crew was lost.
