Six-month freight volume by North Railroad via Arkhangelsk port up 23%, to 773.900 tons

The volume of freight traffic on the Northern Railroad (SZD, a Russian Railways subsidiary) through the Arkhangelsk seaport in the first half of this year grew by 23%, compared with the same period a year earlier to 773.900 tons, the SZD press service said.

In half-year freight volume, export shipments totaled 260.100 tons, largely exports of coal - 138,700 tons, timber - 48,700 tons and metals - 69,300 tons.

Imported goods amounted to 306.200 tons, including metal - 177,300 tons and alumina - 116,900 tons.

Earlier reports said trade flows via Arkhangelsk Commercial Sea Port (a stevedoring company of Port of Arkhangelsk) in H1, 2010 rose to 793.100 tons, or 30% up over the same period last year. Overall, throughput of the port of Arkhangelsk in January-June increased by 27% as compared with H1, 2009, to 2.136 million tons.
