MTC Yug-2, the multi-cargo transshipment complex at the port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad region) handled yesterday a new shipment of terminal roll-trailers of Swiss Seacom company, said the press release of Ust-Luga JSC, implementing the port project.
Roll-trailers are intended for transportation by tractor-trailer trucks of container and other cargo weighing up to 70 tons on the territory of the seaport.
One of the major advantages of the roll-trailers is a large payload, provided by specialized bandage tires and lightweight chassis, the company said. The equipment can substantially cut the costs of while operated.
Roll-trailers meet all modern requirements and is highly reliable. The new equipment will allow the MTC to improve its handling technology.
The multipurpose complex with total area of 97.8 ha is designed for handling Ro-ro cargoes, containers and general cargo. The length of the waterfront piers is 1000 m. The area of the first-phase complex is 16,7 ha. The project capacity of the complex will help boost Yug-2’s volume to 4.6 million tons a year. The designed capacity of Yug-2’s automobile terminal is 450,000 cars annually. The construction of Yug-2’s third-phase is scheduled to be completed this year.
