ADSC’s H1 freight volume soars 75%, to 2.38 million tons

The volume of freight traffic by the Group of companies Azov-Don Shipping Company (ADSC) surged by 75% in the first half of 2010 from H1, 2009, to 2,379,000 tons. The half-year volume includes 859,000 tons of cargo shipped via Russia's inland waterways and 1,520,000 tons carried by sea, the Group press service said.

The inbound and outbound cargoes were largely cereals - 30% of the total volume, coal - 30%, mineral fertilizer - 20%, other goods - 10%. The Azov-Don Shipping was operating on the southern route, passing via the ports of Rostov, Ust Donetsk, Astrakhan, the Kavkaz, as well as seaports of Turkey, Greece, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Israel.

The Group’s stevedore companies’ H1 throughput jumped over two times as much (vs H1, 2009’s number) handling 1,326,000 tons of cargo.

The six-month volume includes primarily mineral fertilizer - 50% of all handled freight, coal - 40%, building materials - 7%, other goods - 3%. The freight flows were passing through the terminals of the Rostov region and Krasnodar Territory.

Group of companies Azov-Don Shipping Company was established in 2003. ADSC comprises over 20 enterprises of water transport: shipping companies, stevedoring companies, shipyards and nonmetallic enterprises, development companies.
