Somali pirates seize the MV POLAR ship

The Panama-flagged MV Polar tanker owned by Liberia was attacked and hijacked by pirates in the Somali Basin on Saturday, Oct. 30, the EU NAVFOR press release said.
The ship was attacked during the night, approximately 580 nm (nearly 1,100 km) East from Socotra island. The owner confirmed Sunday morning the vessel was under pirate control.
The 72,825DWT MV POLAR has a crew of 24, of which 1 is Romanian, 3 are Greek, 4 Montenegrin and 16 Filipino.
