Sea Port of St. Petersburg Group upgrades terminals, spends over RUB90m in Jan-Sept.

Nine-month volume of investments of JSC Sea Port of St. Petersburg in modernization and reconstruction of its terminals has reached more than 90 million rubles, the company’s press release said.

The company said it had spent over 69 million rubles for acquisition of state-of-the-art handling equipment for the Group’s stevedoring companies. In particular, to boost the unloading of vessels the company purchased two Kalmar forklift trucks of lifting capacity of 16 and 28 tons, and two reachstackers for handling reefer cargo to be operated at the terminals of the First Stevedoring Company.

Over 19 million rubles were allocated for the reconstruction of outdoor warehouse facilities number 9 and 10 at the territory of Second Stevedoring Company. This will increase the volume of cargo handling by 200,000 tons.

About 4 million rubles were intended for scheduled maintenance of berthage of the Group’s First, Second and Third stevedoring companies, located in the Big Port of St. Petersburg, and a Multipurpose Transshipment complex at the port of Ust-Luga. In addition, the funds were spent for installation of CCTV at the territory of the First Stevedoring Company.

The Group also directed more than 3 million rubles to develop project documentation and health and environmental survey of the reefer terminal’s area of designed production capacity of 1.5 million tons a year. Commissioning of new refrigeration and warehouses facilities to store fruits and vegetables will ensure cargo handling, while maintaining high quality of food products and its conformity with European health standards.

The Sea Port St. Petersburg Group’s Program of development involves the construction and development of high-tech specialized terminal facilities, which will increase cargo turnover of stevedoring assets of UCL in the North West up to 20 million tons a year, and will attract highly profitable freight flows for all of the Holding’s transport assets.
