The Saratov refinery has started operating the railway overpass for loading and unloading dark oil products (fuel oil and vacuum gas oil). Investments in the facility reconstruction project, launched in 2008, made up nearly $30 million, OilCapital.ru reports.
"The leak-proof system of loading, unloading petroleum products into tank cars was installed at the railway overpass. This will reduce emissions by more than 1,000 tons a year, which is a significant contribution to improving the environmental situation in the region," Alexander Streliukhin the Saratov regional Deputy Prime Minister said.
According to Director General of JSC Saratov refinery Alexander Romanov, the project is the first step in implementing a large investment program of TNK-BP for the reconstruction and modernization of the Saratov Refinery for the period of 2011-2012. The company has planned to build an isomerization facility, to renovate a fuel hydrotreating complex and to implement other projects at the enterprise aimed at producing petroleum products, Euro 4 and Euro 5.
