Ust-Luga’s Yug-2 to boost monthly throughput to 1ths Subaru cars next year

Ust-Luga Company plans to increase in 2011 handling of imported Subaru autos to 1,000 units a month at Yug-2 multipurpose transshipment complex (Port of Ust-Luga, Leningrad region), the company’s press release said.

From October 31, 2010 Ust-Luga began transshipment of Subaru cars via the Yug-2 terminal on a regular basis. Overall, the Neckar Highway MV has transported 349 cars to the terminal from the port of Hanko, Finland. The company said the Subaru cars would be delivered to Russia from next year directly from Europe, bypassing the port of Hanko. It is expected that Ust-Luga will be handling up to a thousand units of the car maker a month.

Earlier, on October 10, the port of Ust-Luga offloaded the first shipment of imported Subaru cars, 22 units.

The Multipurpose Transshipment Complex, Yug-2 is intended for handling Ro-ro cargoes, including new imported autos, containers and general cargo. The terminal’s first phase was launched in June 2008. After completion of the Yug-2 final phase, the complex will be able to handle more than 4.6 million tons of Ro-ro cargoes.
