UK Chamber of Shipping launches new panel

The UK Chamber of Shipping has launched a new panel to encourage a closer working relationship with the British Tugowners Association (BTA).

The Habour Towage Panel will form policies on specific port towage issues.  Current members of the BTA and members of the Chamber of Shipping will be invited to join the panel.

The Habour Towage Panel will be led by newly appointed secretary master mariner Captain Saurabh Sachdeva who will be taking over from the Chamber's Head of Policy, David Asprey.

Mark Malone, BTA Chairman will preside over the panel and will offer all BTA members direct access to the Chamber’s support, expertise and lobbying activities.

Topics to be discussed during the panel include overcoming the challenges of towage endorsements, MLC implementation, and training requirements and capitalisation for offshore renewable installations.

Both organisations will continue to operate independently, but the panel will promote a closer collaboration between the two companies, according to Malone.
