RosMorRechFlot extends navigation on inland waterways of European Russia

Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Russian Ministry of Transport (Rosmorrechflot) taking into account the weather forecast prior to November and the first decade of December 2010 decided to extend the navigation period and ship transits via locks in the areas of inland waterways of the European part of Russia, the Agency press release said.

In particular, the navigation is extended until November 10th in the area from Kuzminski waterway complex to Western Port, until November 15th - the Lower Kama waterway, until November 22nd – through the Rybinsk canal, until November 30th - on the Volga-Don shipping canal and the Lower Don river; until December 28th - on Lake Onega, Gorodetsky waterways and the Volga-Baltic Waterway - until freezing.

The locking through in the specified time stops at 00.00 hours, local time.

In accordance with the Rosmorrechflot Board’s decision on October 28, 2007, maintenance of navigational signs and locking through the navigable water structures is based on the contracts with shipping companies for the cost of services provided.

Shipowners are recommended to adopt additional measures to ensure safety of navigation in terms of possible negative temperatures.
