Ten-month throughput of Aktau Port drops 8% to 10.585m tons

The volume of cargo handling by Aktau International Commercial Sea Port (the port of Aktau, Kazakhstan) in January-October, 2010 fell by 8% as compared with the same period a year earlier to 10,585,000 tons of dry cargo and petroleum products, the port’s statistics said.

Total crude oil and petroleum products handled at the port’s terminals in January-October amounted to 7,953,600 tons. Ten-month volume of dry cargo totaled 2,632,200 tons, including 1,613,200 tons of metal, 228,700 tons of other goods, 355,100 tons of grain. The volume of ferry traffic reached 435,200 tons. In the reporting period there were 1704 calls at the port.

In October this year AICSP handled 1,106,400 tons of dry cargo and petroleum products.

Port of Aktau is located on the east coast of the Caspian Sea and is the only seaport of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Port is a gate for international trade flows passing via its terminals, a broad range of dry cargoes, crude oil and petroleum products. In 2009 the Aktau Port’s throughput rose by 26.7%, to 13,951,000 tons.
