Ukraine intends to open river ports to foreign vessels

Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine will prepare a development program for inland waterways. As the press service of the Ministry reports, the program will result in opening river ports to foreign vessels and lead to competitive service charges in these ports, as well as reduction of port dues for transit vessels passing through the country’s seaports to river ports.

The Transport Minister charged to form a working group to work out a concept and strategy of development of inland water transport and inland waterways. These two documents, in turn, will create a comprehensive program of the industry development.

To develop the program the Ministry outsourced the State Administration of sea and river transport (Ukrmorrichflot), SE Delta-Pilot, SE Ukrvodshlyakh, SE Authority of river ports," SE Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, as well as specialists of Nibulon LLC and Ukrrechflot.
