MSC to hike Europe-South Asia surcharges from Dec.1, 2010

Mediterranean Shipping Co. plans to increase the surcharges for bunker fuel and currency on cargo between Europe and South Asia as of December 1, 2010, the Journal of Commerce reported.
MSC will apply a currency adjustment factor of 9.5 percent on eastbound cargo from ports in Northern Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic States, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
The Geneva-based carrier will apply a bunker adjustment factor of $350 per 20-foot equivalent unit on all cargo moving in both detections between those ports and India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
