Archangelsk port’s cargo turnover up 42% in Jan-Oct, to 3,94m tons

Freight flows through Archangelsk port surged by 42.4% in January-October  compared with the same period last year, to 3,943 million tons, PortNews reports citing the Port Authority statistics.
This October the port also demonstrated a 44-percent growth, to 334,600 tons of cargo.

In particular, in ten recent months exports flows soared by 61.5% to 1,753 million tons, including petroleum products volume that increased by 90% to 908,400 tons, transshipment of coal jumped by 2.6 times to 237,000 tons, timber cargo rose by 11.3% to 430,000 tons.

The volume of transshipment of home trade cargo grew by 26.5% to 1,728,000 tons. At the same time crude oil plummeted 69% to 212,400 tons.

Imports volume also rose by 45% to 461,700 tons.

Arkhangelsk, a year-round navigable seaport, is located in the delta of the Northern Dvina River flowing into the White Sea. The Northern Sea Route freight traffic passes through the port’s terminals. Arkhangelsk Commercial Sea Port JSC is a diversified stevedoring company in the Port of Arkhangelsk, specializing in transshipment of general cargoes, cellulose, cardboard, containers, timber, metals, fertilizers, heavy-lift equipment and bulked cargoes. The total capacity of Arkhangelsk port allows handling up to 4.5 million tons of cargo a year. Last year’s throughput of the port of Arkhangelsk shrank by 30.58%, to 3.271.600 tons.
