Russian crude exports via Varandei up to 6,413m tons in Jan-Oct.

The volume of Russian oil exports through the terminal Varandey (Arkhangelsk region) in January-October 2010 reached 6.413 million tons, PortNews  reports citing the Arkhangelsk Port Authority.
In October, the volume of crude oil shipment from the terminal was at 565,100 tons.

In 2008, Russian oil giant LUKOIL completed the construction of the Varandey terminal for oil exports of capacity up to 12 million tons a year (240,000 bpd). Since June 2008, Varandey terminal has been shipping crude oil for exports, supplied from the Timan-Pechora province, primarily from South Khylchuyu field, which was launched in the summer of 2008.

The crude oil is carried by ice-class 70,000dwt shuttle tankers to Varandei floating storage facility, located in the non-freezing waters off Murmansk. Then the oil is transported by 150,000dwt linear tankers from the floater to Western Europe and the USA.
