Grain-laden ships get the go-ahead at Ukrainian ports

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allowed the export of grain, from Ukraine and the first ships left the country’s ports yesterday, Leonid Kozachenko President of Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation (UAC) said in an interview with journalists.

"Since yesterday they permit the vessels loaded with exported grain to leave", said Mr. Kozachenko.

According to him, the ships laden with grain for exports were allowed to leave the ports by oral order of the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

Mr. Kozachenko clarified that there was no need for a formal order of the Cabinet, because the vessels were loaded before the grain exports ban came into force.

President of UAC added that the authorities allow exports of only the grain cargo that had already been loaded to ships, or something  about 200,000 tons.

According to Mr. Kozachenko, exports of grain that is stored in the port silo will be resolved within the quotas. As of now, over a half of grain-laden vessels have already left the Ukrainian ports, he said.
