Nine-month throughput of Vanino Port slightly down to 5.1m tons

Freight volume handled by JSC Vanino Port in January-October 2010 totaled 5,140,200 tons of different cargoes (-0.1% down from the same period last year), the company statement said.

In October, Vanino Port throughput amounted to 500,100 tons (-16.6%), container traffic - to 10,759 TEUs.

In Jan-Oct, exports volume passing via the port reached 2,289,800 tons, including 1 million 3.8 thousand of timber, 118,500 tons - non-ferrous metals and 1,128,000 tons of coal.
Imports handled by the stevedore totaled 1,079,900 tons, of which 1,041,800 tons of alumina.

In the reporting period, the stevedore transshipped 454,300 tons of coastal cargoes, including 123,100 tons of coal, 88,400 tons of containers, 23,600 tons of machinery and equipment. Vanino - Kholmsk ferry service carried 1,316,200 tons of cargo (+13.5%).

In Jan-Oct, the company handled 1,185 vessels, including 591 ferries and 58,200 railway cars.

Vanino Commercial Sea Port JSC is the largest stevedore operating at the Port of Vanino in Khabarovsk Territory. Flows of imports to the north-eastern regions of Russia and exports to Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and APR countries pass through the port’s terminals. In 2009, throughput of the stevedoring company was 9,4% down yoy to 6 million tons. Russian Government holds through Federal Agency for Property Management a 73,33-percent stake in Port of Vanino JSC.
