Kotka Port’s throughput is up 43.4% in Jan-Oct, to 9,1m tons

Ten-month trade flows via Port of Kotka (Finland) surged by 43.4% compared with the same period last year, to 9,103,400 tons, the Kotka Port Authority said.
Container traffic in the reporting period gained 13.7% to 326,145TEUs. Ro-Ro cargo volumes plunged by 40.9% to 12,361 units.

Exports flows contributed to the ten-month positive results  - 4,885,629 tons, or a 43.5-percent increase from Jan-Oct, 2009. Outbound cargo included 1,921,051 tons of paper (-4.7%). Imports rose to 2,397,000 tons, up 2.4 times vs last year’s figures.

In October, the port of Kotka handled nearly 1,083,300 tons of cargo.

Port of Kotka is one of the main export ports of Finland, which is part of a logistics hub, providing trade flows between Finland and Russia. The port is focused largely on transshipment of timber and pulp cargo.
